GUITARIST • SINGER • SONGWRITER
Blues in the heart, groove in the soul
Matthew Jumpsen is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter with fifteen years of professional stage and studio experience, and a strong repertoire of original music. An emerging artist in Calgary’s blues scene, he draws inspiration from Colin James, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and Buddy Guy.
With blues at its foundation, Jumpsen’s sound brings together rock, funk, and soul, with a good groove at the heart of every song. His songwriting pairs catchy, danceable arrangements with lyrics of longing, uncertainty, and stories without tidy endings. His original songs have been refined through years of live performance.
He has performed at established Calgary venues including The Ironwood and The Blues Can, and appeared at the 2025 Calgary Bluesfest. Hi debut album IN PURSUIT is out now.
